(FeaturedNews.com) – Although teachers enter their profession to educate the nation’s youth, sometimes doing so involves an element of danger. In Pierce County, Washington, authorities charged a 14-year-old boy with second-degree assault after a physical education teacher filed a complaint against him.
The boy allegedly came up behind the female teacher and wrapped his belt around her neck, pulling it tightly. The teacher removed the belt immediately and wasn’t physically injured, but was shaken.
According to reports, the student told police he was “being dumb.” Police took him to the county juvenile detention center and later released him to his parents.

The Bethel School District, where the incident occurred, has been under fire from one local parent who says her children have a history of being bullied there. According to the mom, her child was bullied for years to the point that she threatened suicide before the school system finally stepped in.
She said all three of her children are in counseling and two are seeing a psychiatrist. She called on School District Superintendent Tom Seigel to step up and make changes.
School District spokesman Doug Boyles says the school in question has comparable disciplinary rates to the other schools in the district and that they hold bullies accountable.
