(FeaturedNews.com) – Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) blasted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for his response to former President Donald Trump’s indictment last Thursday.
Following the indictment, DeSantis had taken to Twitter to call the charges being brought forth against Trump “un-American.” He further added that if his state received an extradition request, they would not be assisting in the efforts to bring Trump in. According to the so far reports Trump is expected to voluntarily surrender.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” Psaki asked Schiff about his thoughts regarding DeSantis’s tweet. In response, Schiff pointed out that DeSantis knows about the law and about how he would be obliged to assist in the extradition efforts. He added that DeSantis is “not a stupid person” and that he was well aware of this.
DeSantis graduated from Harvard Law School and served as a lawyer in the Navy prior to his election to Congress in 2012.
Schiff said that DeSantis is placing his political ambition above any “principle” on this. He added that this behavior just reminds him of “something Adam Kinzinger, my colleague in the Jan. 6 committee, said when he said, it’s not that he and Liz Cheney are so courageous, it’s just that they’re surrounded by cowards.”
He added that this was a “cowardly move on DeSantis’s part as we was attempting to compete with Trump “on Trump’s own turf.”
Trump is being indicted by a Manhattan grand jury in relation to his role in a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
