In the town of Willits, where the woman was born, there were celebrations with a number of people driving by for the celebrations.

Evelyn Perisco told Nexstar’s KTXL that they had a very high turnout. Edith “Edie” Recagno Keenan Ceccarelli was born on Feb. 5 and is currently the second oldest living person in the world. As part of the birthday parade, fire and police officials from the two honked while crowds of people drove by cheering and waving. Perisco noted that Willits was an amazing town with many people being in support.

Perisco and Ceccarelli have known each other for years as Perisco married Lee who is a second cousin of the supercentenarian. The celebrations for Ceccarelli have become an annual tradition over the last few years.

Willits is a town only 160 miles from Sacramento that has a population of just under 5,000 people. Ceccarelli has spent her entire life in California, moving to different parts including Ukiah, Eureka, and Santa Rosa. She was the eldest of seven siblings, all of whom have passed away.
