(FeaturedNews.com) – A manager at a Florida tavern has removed a sign seemingly poking fun at the assassination attempt of Trump.
After many found the sign that read, “How do you miss a head that inflated?” insensitive, Lo De Stout, general manager at Harry’s Banana Farm in Lake Worth Beach, has removed it.
De Stout told local news station WPTV, that the sign was “meant to be humorous,” but later learned “it struck a nerve.”
De Stout noted he made humorous signs around “whatever is the hot topic,” trying to keep them under ten words.
The tavern general manager explained that since he wrote about hot topics, he knew the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump would be “all that everybody was going to be talking about for the next two weeks.”
Since taking down the previous sign, it’s been replaced with a new one that reads, “Yeah, for Trump, so happy for him,” and concludes with, “You crazy bastards happy.”
Last month, De Stout noted the tavern displayed a sign poking fun at President Joe Biden.
WPTV also reached out to locals for their comments on the sign.
One Trump supporter, Rocco Talarico, revealed to the TV news station that he had seen the sign before it was removed, and now that whenever he passes the tavern, his stomach gets knotted up, stating what the tavern did is “disgusting.”
Talarico also added that the tavern would put up a sign “every time that something happens” and that he is “totally against it.”
A patron of Harry’s Banana Farm, Christopher Westcott, noted the sign didn’t bother him, stating his thoughts that “some people take things too personally.”
Westcott added, “Freedom of speech is freedom of speech,” before adding that while he doesn’t agree with everyone’s politics at the tavern, he wasn’t there to discuss politics.
