(FeaturedNews.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is seeking a second term after his arguable success in office. Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is putting her support fully behind him. She personally donated $5,500 to his campaign, according to Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC records.

In addition to DeVos’ contributions, her husband, Dick DeVos; son, Rick DeVos; grandson Dalton DeVos; niece Olivia DeVos; and brother- and sister-in-law Daniel and Pamela DeVos donated to the PAC. Her other brother-in-law, Douglas DeVos, and sister-in-law Suzanne Cheryl DeVos also gave money to the campaign. The total amount the family put up to support DeSantis was over $280,000.
The DeVos are staunchly conservative. They have a history of providing donations to support Republican candidates. The Michigan Campaign Finance Network reported the family has given about $82 million in GOP political contributions since 1999.
Many of Betsy DeVos’ decisions when she was in the federal government mirrored those DeSantis has been taking in Florida. She pushed for school choice, and the governor has been working to expand related freedoms in his state. She was an advocate for religious education, which aligns with DeSantis’ policies to allow parents more control over what their children learn in school.
