(FeaturedNews.com) – Officials from the Biden administration have been pushing for years the narrative that the border was “closed” and “secure.” However, more recently this stance has changed despite the previous statements by Vice President Kamala Harris and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over border security in the last three years.
In the last week, President Biden has admitted to reporters that the U.S. southern border is not secure. This response came following a question relating to the impeachment efforts of House Republicans against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Biden responded by saying that the border is not secure and that he has not believed that the border has been secure for the past decade. Instead, he argued that what he had been calling for the last ten years was for Congress to give him more money.
The White House has now doubled down on the comments that the President had made while attempting to dodge any questions relating to previous statements made by Mayorkas where he had maintained that the border was secure.
A reporter continued by asking about Biden’s statement on Friday that he did not believe that the border was secure. He proceeded to question why this was different from the previous testimony provided by Secretary Mayorkas repeatedly on the Hill. He then questioned why the two had completely different views on the topic of border security.
In response to that question, Jean-Pierre argued that it has been very clear that they needed to make a move regarding the border and that Biden saying that they needed a border deal, is what the White House, including Mayorkas, have been working towards.
