Biden Calls Out Donald Trump

President Biden on Tuesday said that he believed he would be able to come out victorious again if he were to face former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. Both men have teased making a second possible bid for the presidency.

In an interview with CNN, Jake Tapper said that he would place his focus on the next presidential election after the midterm elections have passed. Previously, both the President and the White House’s staff have maintained that Biden intends to seek re-election in 2024.

Tapper then asked Biden if one of the reasons he would seek reelection is that he believes he is the only one who can beat Donald Trump. To this, Biden responded by saying that he thought he would beat Trump again.

In the past, Biden has been open to a possible rematch with Trump, whom he beat in 2020. At a NATO summit in March, he also said that he would be “very fortunate” if he were to go against Trump again.

In recent months Biden’s approval rates have remained at around 40 percent, however, in a hypothetical matchup with Trump, he appears to still be in the lead according to the polls.

In late August a Wall Street Journal poll showed that Biden was ahead of Trump by 6 points, 50-44.

However, Biden’s age is causing many to doubt whether he should run again. On Election Day 2024 Biden would be 81 years old while Trump would be 78.

A CAPS/Harris poll showed that 67 percent of voters thought that Biden should not seek re-election. Similarly, 57 percent said that Trump should not place another bid for the Presidency.
