Biden Is Deploying $350 Million in Support to Ukraine as War Concerns Intensify

(FeaturedNews.com) – Russian President Vladimir Putin took months to finally begin what everyone knew he planned to do. Troops crossed into Ukraine and attacked cities in the nation, causing plenty of devastation. And while the Ukrainian military is holding its own, the country still needs help. Allies are quickly stepping up to offer financial and military support.

On February 26, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced in a press release that the United States would send $350 million to Ukraine for military assistance. This funding is in addition to the $60 million the government sent in fall 2021 and the $200 million President Joe Biden approved in December 2021. The total exceeds $1 billion going to the embattled nation from the United States over the course of the past year.

Blinken added that the assistance is a “clear signal that the United States stands with the people of Ukraine.” He explained the package would provide funds for Ukraine’s lethal defensive equipment. It will also help combat Russian troops by providing equipment such as small arms and assorted munitions.

President Joe Biden used the Presidential Drawdown Authority to authorize the funding. Ukraine will begin receiving the assistance little by little as soon as possible. There is no official timeline as of yet.
