Biden Ramps Up Attacks On Trump
Following the results of the midterm elections, where the Democrats were able to maintain their Senate majority and only lose very few seats in the House, President Biden has been more confident in framing himself as the 2024 presidential nominee. Biden has also started poking Trump, who has already announced his 2024 presidential campaign, and the Republicans.
In the midterm elections, Trump-backed candidates lost a number of key races. This has helped lessen Trump’s influence over the GOP, which is a great benefit for the Democrats.
Joel Payne, a Democratic strategist, has said that what the midterm elections have shown is that between President Biden and former President Trump, Biden appears to be the one favored. He added that the White House now has the grounds to become more active as they are set to start preparing for reelection.
During the annual turkey pardon at the White House’s pre-Thanksgiving ceremony, Biden made a couple of jokes about the Republicans saying that “The only ‘red wave’ this season is going to be if our German shepherd Commander knocks over the cranberry sauce on our table.”
The White House also released some “talking points” for “chatting with your uncle at Thanksgiving.” In those points, there were many of the more extreme policies of the GOP which include banning abortions and the fight against the Inflation Reduction Act. According to the White House, if the Act is repealed then many Americans might lose access to their expanded health care benefits.
