(FeaturedNews.com) – Atlanta’s former Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, is joining Biden’s reelection campaign.
According to Ebony Magazine, Bottoms will join President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign as a senior adviser.
Bottom’s previous roles include being vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, serving as mayor of Atlanta from 2018 to 2022, and becoming the head of the White House Office of Public Engagement later that same year — a role she held for about a year.
Speaking to Ebony, Bottoms suggested that although people often say any given election “is the most important election of our lifetime,” the 2024 presidential election “absolutely is.”
The former mayor of Atlanta described Americans as being “tormented by” former President Donald Trump’s “policies and erratic behavior” for the four years he held office, suggesting that if given another four years, he’d enact the “promised retribution to his political enemies,” and “once again bring [chaos] to America.”
Biden’s campaign has welcomed her with a glowing indictment.
In a statement, Jen O’Malley, Chair of the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign, noted that Bottoms was “one of the first elected officials to endorse” Biden by publicly supporting him in the summer of 2019, adding that she has become a “valuable and trusted advisor” to Biden.
O’Malley added that Bottoms led Atlanta and the White House Office of Public Engagement “with strength,” adding the campaign “couldn’t be more excited” that she’s joining.
The announcement that Bottoms will be joining Biden’s campaign comes a day before Trump and Biden engage in their first head-to-head debate on Thursday.
It also comes a day after the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published a poll showing Biden trails Trump in the Peach State.
