Biden’s Family Under New Investigation
Federal investigators are now saying that they have enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son, for tax crimes and allegedly the falsification of paperwork relating to the purchase of a gun in 2018. The report was released in the Washington Post with the source being cited as people who are familiar with the case.
Hunter Biden has been under federal investigation by prosecutors who are looking more deeply into his business dealings abroad, and more specifically the deal he had with a Ukrainian natural gas company and some businesses in China and Kazakhstan. This investigation was a key part of former President Donald Trump’s 2020 election campaign.
According to the report published, it would now be up to the U.S. attorney in Delaware to decide whether charges against Hunter Biden would be made. The office is led by David Weiss, who was appointed to the position in 2018 by Trump. The investigations into Biden began that same year.
So far, the US attorney in Delaware has refused to comment.
Attorney General Merrick Garland, appointed by President Biden, has said that Weiss is in charge of the case.
Chris Clark, an attorney for Hunter Biden, said that if the information that was in the report was leaked by a federal agent, then this would constitute a federal crime.
