Brittney Griner on Friday expressed gratitude for those Biden administration members who were integral in helping with her release from Russia. She also pledged to help President Biden’s efforts to have U.S. Marine Paul Whelan, who is still imprisoned in Russia, brought home.

In a post on Instagram, Griner wrote that President Biden had brought her home and that she knew that the administration was committed to bringing Paul Whelan and all other Americans home too. This post was the longest comment she has made since her return to the U.S. last week.

She added in the post that she would do everything she could to help bring Americans back home, as “every family deserves to be whole.”

In her post, Griner thanked Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and her legal team for all the work they undertook which allowed her to be released.

She also added that she is fully intent on playing in the upcoming WNBA season for the Phoenix Mercury. She added that this will also allow her to say thank you to all those who supported her release and advocated for her in person too.

Griner was released from a Russian prison last week after she was exchanged with convicted arms trafficker Viktor Bout.
