(FeaturedNews.com) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to face criticism for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ever-changing rules, regulations, and recommendations damage the organization’s credibility with the American people. Now, the CDC’s director admits the agency’s shortcomings and vows to enact change.
In an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky regretfully admitted the agency’s lack of clarity throughout the pandemic. She says it should have anticipated the virus’ evolving nature and pre-warned the public about rapidly fluctuating guidelines.
Walensky feels the CDC dropped the ball and now is paying the price; many people no longer trust its advice. However, the doctor says she is committed to clarity in all communications.

Walensky’s remarks come on the heels of the most recent guidelines from the CDC regarding quarantine, which caused a significant backlash. The new rules made little sense and were confusing even to medical experts.
However, Dr. Walensky did stand up for the CDC’s latest rules, which apparently stem from the results of over 100 research papers and the need to take action quickly. She feels the CDC released both research and guidelines before they knew enough about the Omicron variant, which is far more transmissible compared to prior mutations.
Walensky says the CDC plans to become more transparent about the uncertainty of the pandemic to reduce confusion. She also is working to present the CDC as an independent entity rather than a political tool.
