A Florida Chick-fil-A employee has been called a hero for stepping in and stopping a man from carjacking a woman and a baby. The employee, Mykel Gordon, was working in a store in the Fort Walton Beach area Wednesday when he heard a woman screaming for help.

According to the report made to authorities, the woman had been approached by William Branch, the suspect, as she was getting her nephew out of the car. The man had been carrying a stick and making it obvious that he was willing to use it as a weapon.

As he lunged at her she stepped back but he managed to get her keys from her waist and enter her car. The Chick-fil-A employee heard the woman’s screams and ran outside to help.

A video recorded by the victim shows Gordon and Branch wrestling to the ground. At one point Gordon also manages to hold the man down.

Branch, 43, has now been charged with carjacking with a weapon and battery.

This was the second incident reported that day in the location, as Branch had attempted something similar 10 minutes prior when he had reached and entered another woman’s vehicle. He had then sat on top of her and told her to get out, but Gordon had once again heard the commotion and forced Branch to move away.
