(FeaturedNews.com) – Postdoctoral research scholar Jonathan Yudelman from Arizona State University (ASU) has been barred from the university after he was seen attacking verbally a woman who was wearing a hijab.
Michael Crow, the ASU President, stated that Yudelman would “never” be allowed to return to the school to teach.
The incident in question had taken place last week when Yudelman had confronted a woman wearing a hijab during a pro-Israel demonstration that was occurring near campus. Crow stated that the man had been completely barred from being on campus and from teaching there again.
The video of Yudelman, who had been an ASU’s School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership scholar, has been circulating across several social media platforms. In the video, he is seen cursing at a woman who is wearing a hijab. The woman during the video takes a step back as Yudelman is telling her that he is “literally in your face.” The woman had responded by stating that he was being disrespectful of her religious boundaries, to which Yudelman had said that she was disrespecting his “sense of humanity.”
The school announced that the scholar had been put on leave and would not be “permitted” to teach classes, interact with others at the university, or come to campus. Before the incident, Yudelman had resigned from the university effective June 30. He was also not scheduled to teach any courses during the summer period.
The Temple Police Department is also set to conduct a criminal investigation into the matter after the ASU referred the incident to them.
