Corrupt Democrat Mayor Gives Herself a Raise
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot proposed an ordinance that would give the mayor’s office an annual inflation raise that would be capped at 5%.
Lightfoot’s current salary is $209,915 per year. This amount is set to increase to $216,210 as of May 22, 2023. This proposal would essentially allow the mayor to receive a 5% raise each year unless they choose to opt-out.
Lightfoot’s proposed raise to herself comes after she has faced a lot of criticism about the lack of action from her office in dealing with crime. Violent crimes in the city have increased by 37% when compared to 2021.
In 2022 there have been 74% more motor vehicle thefts so far.
The rising crime rates have led to many choosing to leave the city. Tyson Foods recently announced that they would be leaving Chicago in favor of Arkansas.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski also spoke about the city in a recent speech saying that crimes are happening in their restaurants. He also noted that there have been instances of drug overdoses and even homelessness issues appearing in their restaurants in the city.
Mayor Lightfoot’s office has not made any statements to respond to the criticisms about the raise, especially in consideration of the high crime rates.
