(FeaturedNews.com) – “The Daily Show” canceled its tapings in Milwaukee for this week’s National Republican Convention noting that the cancellation is due to “logistical issues” relating to the situation in the city as it is involved.
The Comedy Central news satire show was scheduled to cover the RNC as part of the “Indecision 2024” coverage for this election year. However, following Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a Pennsylvania rally the situation has changed.
“The Daily Show” previously had sold out the Marcus Performing Arts Center for several nights. However, the CEO of the center, Kevin Giglinto, noted in a statement that following the shocking and sad events that had occurred in Pennsylvania they supported The Daily Show in their decision to back out of the shows. This statement was released in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The gunman had been killed following the shooting which had killed one other attendee while critically injuring two others. The two attendees who were previously in critical condition are now stable. Former President Trump was also pierced in the ear by a bullet but appears to be doing well right now. He is also set to appear at the convention as scheduled, leaving for Milwaukee only a day after the attack on his life.
“The Daily Show” in its statement indicated that it was intending to return to the state after the cancellation. It noted that they would have to reschedule their events and would look at doing so within the upcoming weeks.
The show is also not going to be broadcasting on Monday, which is the first day of the RNC but it is going to return to the airwaves from Tuesday to Thursday from its studio in New York.
