(FeaturedNews.com) – In Missouri, a young woman secretly donated one of her kidneys to her father. Two years before the kidney donation took place, John Ivanowski had been diagnosed with a rare form of a kidney disease called IgA nephropathy.
The disease, in its later stages, leads to the kidneys completely becoming dysfunctional in the end, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. However, despite this prognosis, Ivanowski was adamant when telling his daughter Delayne that he did not want to receive one of his daughter’s kidneys. Despite this, the 25-year-old nurse secretly continued to push forward and went ahead with her plan to donate her kidney on Feb. 16.
Delayne told ABC news that she had decided to do it regardless of how much it would make her father mad. As she said if she went ahead with it then her father could have a good life without needing to be hooked to machines in order to survive.
Her father, however, was worried about what effects that would have on his daughter’s life, especially since he had already lost one child 15 years before. He said that if he knew that something had happened to Delayne he did not know how he would react or what he would do.
The news that Delayne was the donor was revealed to her father the day after the operation when her daughter entered his recovery room still in her gown and attached to an IV. The reaction to the news has been captured and shared on TikTok. The video has so far received more than 4.4 million views.
