(FeaturedNews.com) – On Sunday, GOP presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed former President Donald Trump for having claimed that his decision to have a debate against Hillary Clinton in 2016 after the release of the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape was braver than the experience of a soldier on the battlefield.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, DeSantis pointed out that Trump had denigrated the service of those in the military by claiming that his decision to join the debate was braver than what soldiers faced on the battlefield.
Trump, during his speech at the New York Young Republican Club on Saturday night, had claimed that debating was braver. A clip from these remarks has been circulating the web since then.
DeSantis pointed out that Trump’s decision to join the debate was not “braver” but instead argued that what he had done at the time was the “bare minimum” of what a presidential candidate should do. He proceeded to state that what showed cowardice was actually hiding from the debates. This is a reference to the Republican primary debates in the 2024 presidential race which Trump has opted to skip on every occasion.
Trump recalled that after the tape was released of him claiming that because of his fame, he was able to just grope women without their consent, Trump had proceeded to debate against the Democratic candidate. The public has praised him for this decision. Trump is currently leading the presidential race with over 40 points separating him and the other candidates in the race.
