Elon Musk Endorses 2024 Candidate
Elon Musk has said that he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) if he chooses to run for the White House in 2024.
This statement came in response to a Twitter question Musk received asking if he would be supporting DeSantis. In June, he had previously posted a tweet that indicated that he would be supportive of the governor if he chose to run for the White House. In the tweet, he wrote that he would prefer to see for the 2024 presidency a candidate that is “sensible and centrist”. He added that this is what he had hoped the Biden administration to be but he has so far been disappointed.
Musk has added that he had been a “significant supporter” of the Obama administration, but that he had “reluctantly” voted for President Biden instead of Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
Musk also made some comments about Trump in response to an article from a conservative news outlet in which the restoration of Trump’s account on Twitter was noted. Trump’s account had originally been suspended after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Following the ban being lifted though, Trump has said that he would not be switching to Twitter and that instead, he would stay on Truth Social, a platform he created after his suspension.
Musk added that whether Trump’s tweets are not relevant in this case and what was important was that Twitter fix the mistake that was made in having the account banned even though there have been no ToS violations or violations to the law.
