(FeaturedNews.com) – A man in Missouri who had crashed a U-Haul truck close to the White House has now pleaded guilty to damaging federal property.

On Monday, deferral prosecutors announced that 20-year-old Sai Varshith Kandula, who on May 22, 2023, had driven onto the sidewalk and then the security barriers in Lafayette Square, around the White House, had pleaded guilty to damaging the government property. After the initial crash, he reversed the truck and crashed into the barriers again, before exiting the vehicle and showing the authorities in the area a Nazi swastika. The incident had not resulted in any injuries, however, two individuals had been almost hit for standing in the area of the crash.

Kandula has pleaded guilty to willful injury or depredation of United States property and in August will face sentencing on the charge by U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich. Following his arrest the man had been taken into custody where he claimed that he had attempted to enter the White House to seize power of the nation.

In a release, the Justice Department pointed out that Kandula was intending to replace the elected government with a dictatorship that would follow a lot of the Nazi German ideology. He was also looking to be put in control of the country and admitted that he would have arranged for the U.S. president to be killed if it was necessary for his objectives to be achieved.

Kandula is facing a maximum sentence of 10 years, and prosecutors have agreed not to recommend a prison sentence of more than 8 years.
