Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) predicted that GOP lawmakers will try to impeach President Biden “every week” if they manage to get control of the House in the midterms. Kinzinger, who has been very critical of both former President Trump and his allies on Capitol Hill in the past, has attempted to predict what would happen after a GOP majority.
He also called some Republicans “crazies” who, as he noted, always existed. He spoke about how when there were fewer “crazies” in the past they had to talk about ObamaCare and whether or not they would defund it before every vote.
He said that if the GOP achieves a majority, it’s going to look like “child’s play,” especially in terms of what [Rep.] Marjorie Taylor Greene [R-Ga.] will ask Kevin McCarthy [Calif.] for. He added that they would probably try to have an impeachment vote every week.
Republicans are now expected to take control of the House. Democrats are trying to limit a potential majority by the GOP. The FiveThirtyEight polls are estimating that the Republicans would win control of the lower chamber by approximately 71 percent to 29 percent.
If they do manage to gain that majority, many Republican lawmakers have spoken about their preparation of plans to impeach Biden. Some of these impeachment articles have already been presented and they relate to the President’s treatment of the COVID-19 pandemic, the border crisis, and the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
Kinzinger also noted that a GOP House majority would probably try to pass a bill that would make abortion illegal. He also believes McCarthy would have a hard time leading the lower chamber because of all the “crazies.”
