A frustrated wife took to TikTok to declare that she was going on strike in order to see how long it would take her husband to pick up his socks. The video posted by user @miijulie11 proceeds to show the same spot in her home being filmed day after day as the sock pile starts getting larger.

The clip has been viewed 1.9 million times since its posting. On day three, the user commented how only one sock was added to the pile and wondered where the second one went. On day eight, she added that it was “taking everything in me not to pick these up!!!” On day nine, the caption noted that her husband had finally noticed.

One commenter in the video pointed out that in the fifty years they had been with their husband, they had never picked up his clothes because they were his partner and not his parents.

According to a Gallup poll from 2020, women are still usually the ones responsible for household chores. According to the poll, around 58 percent of women do the laundry, and 51 percent do the cleaning and cooking. Since 1996, these percentages have dropped by 12 points.

With the rise of stay-at-home parents also increasing, research by the Pew Research Center has shown that around 18 percent of U.S. parents are currently not working outside of the home. However, the number of stay-at-home dads has increased from 4 percent in 1989 to 7 percent today.
