(FeaturedNews.com) – Minnesota Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar recently responded to the Saturday attack against Israel which was launched by Hamas on Saturday. The number of injuries and deaths following the attack continues to climb and is now at over 1,000, with 14 Americans confirmed dead.
On Saturday, the terrorist group Hamas launched coordinated attacks on Israel, a move that had not been anticipated by either the Israeli security services or the military. Following this move, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, declared that the country was “at war.” At the same time, Hamas spoke about their success in murdering and kidnapping Israeli soldiers and civilians.
Omar, who has previously condemned Israel over the human rights abuses in Palestine, is one of the country’s biggest critics within the U.S. Congress. This has resulted in many Democratic lawmakers critiquing her remarks while others have defended her for pointing out the human rights violations by Saudi Arabia.
Following the recent outbreak of violence, Omar took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to condemn the actions of the terrorist group. As she said, she condemned the incident that has unfolded in Israel where unarmed people have been taken hostage and were killed by Hamas. She added that this violence is only going to lead to a repetition of the cycle of violence and it should not be allowed to continue this way.
She added that she would continue to be an advocate for peace in the Middle East. Omar made history in 2018 when she became one of the first Muslim women to be elected to the U.S. government.
