(FeaturedNews.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s previous donations to his possible presidential opponent Kamala Harris in her past campaigns have been going viral online.
Financial records have shown that when Harris, who is the most likely candidate to take over the Democratic nomination following President Biden’s announcement that he would not be seeking reelection, was running for California attorney general, Trump had donated $5,000 to her campaign in 2011 and another $1,000 in 2013.
He was not the only member of the Trump family to have donated to Harris’s campaign, as his daughter Ivanka Trump had also given $2,000 in 2014 to support Harris’s campaign. According to The Washington Post report, Harris’s spokesperson has noted that the donations from Trump had not been solicited.
In 2020, The Sacramento Bee noted in a report that Harris had donated to a non-profit in 2015, at the start of former President Trump’s presidential campaign, that advocated for human and civil rights for “Central Americans.”
This is not unusual for Trump, who had in the past donated to Democrats. In fact, in 2001 he donated $1,000 in support of then-senator Joe Biden’s campaign. OpenSecrets reported that in 2002 Trump had also donated $5,000 to the New York State Democratic Party.
In the past, Trump had also donated to the campaigns of Hillary Clinton, who was his 2016 presidential opening, and has over time donated at least $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation.
On Sunday, President Biden announced that he is dropping out of the presidential race, and provided his endorsement to his vice president Kamala Harris, who is likely to replace him on the Democratic ticket.
