(FeaturedNews.com) – Justin Timberlake refused a breathalyzer test during his suspicion of DWI arrest early on Tuesday morning.
According to police, the 43-year-old singer refused to take a breath test after he failed to stop at a stop sign at a stop sign in Madison Street and Jermain Avenue in the Hamptons and struggled to stay in his lane.
A statement by the arresting officer revealed that after Timberlake was pulled over by authorities, he had a poor performance on the “standardized field sobriety tests.”
During the stop, Timberlake insisted that he only had one martini and was following his friends home when the stop occurred.
However, court documents listing his occupation as “professional” and describing Timberlake as “self-employed” reveal the singer was subsequently arrested and taken to the nearby East Hampton police station, where he refused to take a breathalyzer test.
The complaint relayed that Timberlake’s eyes were “bloodshot and glossy” and that his breath emanated a “strong” alcohol odor. The complaint also stated the singer had trouble dividing his attention while exhibiting “slowed speech” and unsteady feet.
Timberlake refusing a breathalyzer test might “complicate” his legal proceedings.
Tray Gober, a Texas trial attorney, told Fox News that it wasn’t “uncommon” for those “arrested on suspicion of DWI to refuse a breathalyzer test,” adding that they may decide to do this because of prior legal advice or because they misunderstand the legal implications.
Gober also noted that refusing to take the test typically results in an “automatic suspension of a driver’s license,” because of “implied consent laws” to conduct sobriety tests which drivers agree to when obtaining their license.
