(FeaturedNews.com) – On Monday, during the annual Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Legislative Leadership summit Vice President Harris was giving advice to the young people in attendance and while doing so dropped an f-bomb.
Harris was speaking to young Pacific Islanders, Native Hawaiians, and American people and encouraged them that sometimes when the door was not left open for them, they needed to kick the “f—ing door down.” This comment resulted in people in the audience applauding her.
While the crowd was cheering for her Harris said “Excuse my language.”
Moderator Jimmy O. Yang joked that they needed to make a T-shirt with that line. The comment from Harris had come after Yang had called on her to speak about her experience as the first Black and South Asian American to serve as the U.S. vice president. He had specifically asked her how her heritage had informed her views and the way she worked as a leader.
In response, Harris argued that the thing about “breaking barriers” was that sometimes it did not mean you worked your way from one end to the other. Instead, it means that you have to break stuff, bleed, and get cut. However, as she argued in the long run it was always worth it.
The appearance at the summit comes ahead of Tuesday evening’s celebration in the White House of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Last week, the Biden 2024 reelection campaign launched a $14 million ad campaign specifically targeting those demographics in battleground states ahead of the election.
