(FeaturedNews.com) – Vice President Harris told Politico that former President Donald Trump wanted his running mate to be an “enabler” and not a governing partner. She pointed out that if there is one thing clear is that he does not want someone like Mike Pence again, arguing that the litmus test now has become whether or not they are going to be more loyal to him than the country.

Harris’s comments were a reference to Vice President Mike Pence who during the first administration had refused to follow Trump’s instruction during 2020. During the 2024 presidential race, he launched a campaign against Trump and has often criticized him on key issues.

Last week, Trump was set to be vetting those GOP members who have made it onto his shortlist of potential candidates, including North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), as well as Republican Sens. JD Vance (Ohio), Tim Scott (S.C.) and Marco Rubio. The Trump campaign has reportedly also asked Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) and Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) to provide information as well as his former Health and Human secretary Ben Carson.

Previously Trump had hinted at who had made it onto his shortlist but he had also indicated that he is probably going to wait until mid-July’s Republican National Convention before officially making the announcement of who will join him. Speculations have increased about his potential running mate as different Republican leaders have been campaigning with him and appeared in New York City to support him during his hush money trial.
