(FeaturedNews.com) – On Saturday, former President Donald Trump praised those in the Supreme Court that he had appointed following the court’s decision to strike down Biden’s student loan relief plan.
During a campaign rally in Pickens, South Carolina, which was aired live on Newsmax, Trump pointed out that the previous day the Supreme Court had ruled against the student relief plan pointing out that President Biden did not single-handedly have the right to forgive billions, if not trillions, in student loan debt. Trump even went on to say that student loan forgiveness would have been very unfair to all those people who had worked hard to pay off their student loans through hard work.
Three of the justices sitting in the Supreme Court right now were appointed by Trump; these were Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. All of them joined the majority opinion on Friday, which noted that the federal administration did not have the right to forgive $430 billion in student loan debt without Congressional approval.
Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan would have forgiven $10,000 for borrowers with an annual income below $125,000 and up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients. Trump celebrated the controversial rulings of the Supreme Court, which among other things included striking down affirmative action in college admissions and ruling in favor of a Christian website designer who refused to create websites promoting weddings for same-sex couples.
On Saturday, Trump specifically stated that the decision on affirmative action would help promote a merit-based educational system, while the designer case was a “tremendous win” for religious liberty.
