Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) stated during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” that the latest attempt of President Joe Biden to provide immigration relief is a “disaster.” He noted that the average American would view the actions of the President as a “disaster,” and that he had unilaterally allowed half a million people to gain legal status and named it “parole in place.” He added that this is not something preexisting in the country’s laws and that Biden is the “most lawless president” when it comes to immigration.
Last week, Biden issued a sweeping immigration relief order which would provide those undocumented immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens a way of gaining legal work status and the ability to stay in the country without first having to leave the United States. This move is a further expansion of the regularization program, which is known as parole in place. The program normally provides foreign nationals who entered the country without authorization the right to remain in the country over a certain time period.
Biden has also announced new measures that are meant to further ease the process for illegal immigrants who are already living in the country to apply for a new visa.
Graham, who has frequently in the past criticized the border policies of President Biden, argued that the recent relief action is only going to send around the world the idea that Biden provides amnesty and that they should potentially continue to illegally come into the United States.
