Liz Cheney Gives Endorsement to Who?

During an interview on Tuesday, Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a “tremendous leader”. This was only a week ahead of the election that will choose Cheney’s replacement.

Cheney, in an interview with PBS’s Judy Woodruff, said that she wanted to speak about Pelosi. She noted that while as a conservative there were many things she disagreed with Pelosi on, nonetheless, Pelosi is “a tremendous leader”. She also added that she has had the opportunity to watch her and that her leadership would have “historic consequences.”

Cheney noted that initially, Pelosi had created the House Select Committee in charge of investigating the Jan. 6 attack as she was looking for the truth to come out.

Cheney added that Pelosi has been demonized by many Republicans over the years, just like her father Former Vice President Dick Cheney, had been demonized by Democrats. She continued to say that this road of violence was not one that they continued. She especially noted the attack on the Pelosi household as evidence of this.

She further criticized and condemned all those who joked about the attack, calling that behavior “disgraceful” and saying that it goes against the U.S. identity.

In the interview, Cheney was also asked about what potential solutions there were for stopping the political violence. To this, she said that it was important for people to speak up and she also urged those Republicans who continue to say that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” to stop. She concluded that responsibility was important and that excuses should not be made about the violence that occurs.
