(FeaturedNews.com) – On Monday, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) claimed that the problem with American politics right now is that “we’re electing idiots.” During an event with the cultural and community center, 92nd Street Y, New York, Cheney pointed out that the country was currently facing many important issues, and yet the current political situation is that they were “electing idiots.”
Cheney, one of former President Donald Trump’s most vocal opponents, was asked whether or not she would consider placing a presidential bid if polls showed that it would damage Trump’s chances of winning his third presidential campaign. In response, Cheney argued that she was not looking into these things by looking through a lens that only looked into what she should do. Instead, she is looking at it through a lens that deals with how it would be possible for the country to elect “serious people.” She added that this is something that “can’t be partisan.”
She proceeded to state that currently, they were in a situation because the major-party candidate for one of the two parties is trying to destroy democracy, which is something that everyone should consider. She noted that this was why it is important to consider the alliances that are needed in order to beat Trump and to look into how to build those “across party lines.”
Cheney lost her party’s primary last year to a Trump-endorsed candidate. Since then, she has often pushed that Trump should not be allowed to win back the White House.
