(FeaturedNews.com) – In the wake of the attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life, security around Mar-a-Lago has increased.
On its website, the town of Palm Beach shared that beginning on July 20, at approximately 4 p.m. South Ocean Boulevard would be “closed to through traffic.”
The statement noted the closure was because of “enhanced security measures involving.. U.S. Secret Service-protected persons,” and the Palm Beach estate.
The notice revealed the road closure would remain in effect “24 hours a day, 7 days a week” until at least the general election in November.
The road closure will extend from the Woodbridge Road area to the traffic circle at South Ocean Boulevard, where South Ocean Boulevard and Southern Boulevard connect.
In response to a request to comment on the road closures, a spokesperson for the Secret Service explained that “the safety and security of our protectees” is the agency’s priority.
However, the spokesperson revealed that the agency wouldn’t be discussing “the means and methods used for our protective operations” out of caution.
According to reporting by GulfLive, Sheriff for Palm Beach County, Ric Bradshaw, highlighted the Sheriff’s office had been providing security “with the Secret Service all along.”
Bradshaw explained the Sheriff’s office has been in contact with the Secret Service and would “ramp up security to where we need to be” when Trump “returns to Florida,” adding that the Sheriff’s office is “very good at doing what we’re doing.”
In an interview with WPTV News, Bradshaw had also expressed shock that the would-be assassin could get on the roof of a building 200 yards from Trump. He pointed out that in the four years “we protected the President,” the rooftops of buildings within half a mile would be checked, and pathways to rooftops secured.
