(FeaturedNews.com) – Former first lady Michelle Obama recently targeted Trump during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ stating that she and her husband, former President Barack Obama, had not been invited for their portrait unveiling and hanging back at the White House.
This statement was widely perceived to have been a jab at former President Donald Trump. On Wednesday, during an interview with late night host Jimmy Fallon, Michelle Obama revealed that she “wasn’t invited.”
Referring to the portrait hanging in the White House, she added that it is meant to be a “beautiful experience” where the tradition is that the “next president is supposed to invite you back to hang” the official portraits, but the Obamas had not been invited back.
In 2022, President Joe Biden hosted the Obamas for their portrait unveiling. Michelle Obama noted that this was the first time that she had visited the White House in five years. This is not the first time that Obama has talked about her feelings regarding former President Trump. In her 2022 memoir, “The Light We Carry,” she noted that it had “shook me profoundly” to see that the person who was meant to replace her husband as the head of state had “openly and unapologetically” used ethnic slurs and had been “making selfishness and hate somehow acceptable, refusing to condemn white supremacists or to support people demonstrating for racial justice.”
She has also accused Trump’s audience during his inauguration of not being diverse enough, claiming that “there was no diversity, there was no color on that stage.”
