Camera footage captured the moment when a mother’s own reflection left her terrified. The clip has also left the internet laughing.
The viral TikTok video was originally posted by user @deeeemarie. It showcases her being terrified and trying to run but staying in place.
As she explained, she went into the room to fix her daughter’s pacifier when she thought that there was someone visible on the monitor. It took her some time to realize that the person in the monitor was her own self.
The clip has been viewed by more than 30 million people since its original posting on December 2. Since then, it has received over 3.2 million likes.
According to a 2019 Full Spectrum Insights study, one in three dads of children under two said that they check the monitor once every minute, while one in four moms said the same. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) notes that baby monitors should not be used for reducing the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). This is because currently there is no evidence to suggest that the device can have any impact on reducing SIDS in healthy babies.
