(FeaturedNews.com) – On Thursday, while defending his family, a man shot Michael James Brooks II, a man from Ohio who is wanted for the murder of a woman.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office noted that the incident occurred during a home invasion and that Brooks needed to be hospitalized for his injuries following the shooting. After his release from medical care, he will be facing murder charges in Ohio as well as theft, home invasion, and burglary charges in Georgia.
According to investigators, Brooks is wanted for fatally stabbing 77-year-old Emily Foster in Columbus, Ohio earlier this month. His criminal history also includes carjacking a red Ford F-150 truck, which they found outside of the home he broke into in Georgia. The burglary call to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies occurred a little before 2 a.m. on a Thursday after the home’s security alarm went off.
Deputies arrived at the scene in less than three minutes. They noted that the homeowner had a gun, armed with a knife, during his confrontation with the intruder. Before shooting the intruder, the homeowner warned him he would shoot. He then proceeded to leave the basement and take up a defensive position to protect the rest of his family on the second floor.
The police arrived at the scene after the resident had fired a second shot. From what the deputies could see, the suspect descended the stairway after being shot a second time. The deputies proceeded to take the man into custody.
