Contamination Sparks Urgent Recall

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service initiated a recall of DJ’s Boudain sausage links due to potential contamination by foreign materials, including pen fragments. The contamination was initially discovered following a consumer complaint of finding a pen piece in the Original Boudain sausage links. The recall affects sausage links manufactured on January 23, 2025, across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.

The recall covers fresh and frozen products. The USDA marks, “EST. 13246” are on the affected packages, with sell-by dates varying up to July 22, 2025. Additionally, there have been reports of one oral injury, and no other injuries or illnesses have emerged yet due to consumption of the tainted product.

Consumers Advised to Take Precautions

Consumers are advised against eating these products. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
