Netflix Star Forced to Register as a Predator After Serving Prison Time

(FeaturedNews.com) – Federal authorities arrested Jerry Harris, star of Netflix’s “Cheer,” on September 17, 2020. He pleaded guilty to two federal charges related to soliciting sex from minors and creating pornographic materials with underage boys. A judge sentenced him to 12 years in prison on July 6, 2022.

Court documents show he will have to register as a sex offender upon release. His sentence also includes a requirement to undergo mental health care, including participating in treatment programs and taking medications as prescribed. Additionally, the former Netflix star cannot have contact with any victims and will be on supervised release for eight years. His sentence also stipulates restitution of $55,000 with the potential for more at the court’s future discretion.

“Cheer” elevated Harris’ career as part of the Navarro College competition cheerleading squad. He was a popular cast member who people found delightful due to his energetic attitude. The show won three Emmys and received nine nominations between 2020 and 2022. Harris also appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where he conducted interviews on the Academy Awards red carpet.

The show addressed his arrest and the accusations against him in its second season. Coach Monica Aldama expressed her shock at the situation and declared the importance of protecting children from those who will abuse them.
