(FeaturedNews.com) – The homeless population in the United States is one of the most vulnerable. The displaced often sleep outside in the elements and become easy targets for criminals. One such devious person is causing panic in Washington, D.C. and New York City as the mayors and law enforcement in both areas fear a serial killer is at work.
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a joint statement on March 13 alerting the cities’ homeless populations about a potential murderer targeting them. The leaders urged people to seek shelter and not stay on the streets overnight as the killer appears to attack people when they are asleep.

In D.C., from March 3 to March 9, there were three male victims, one of whom died. The killer shot and stabbed him before setting his tent on fire. In NYC, on March 12, there were two victims. One male woke up after being shot in the arm and confronted the would-be murderer, scaring him off. Unfortunately, the killer shot the other man when he was sleeping. He died from his injuries.
Authorities believe the suspect to be the same man. He’s about 5’4″ tall, and they think he is black. He always wears dark clothing. There is no known motive, and law enforcement has no suspects.
Authorities told officers to increase patrols in areas most frequented by the homeless and offer assistance to get people off the streets. They also issued warnings about the potential killer. D.C. and NYC are coordinating to protect unsheltered individuals. The NYPD has a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the suspect’s capture.
