(FeaturedNews.com) – Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a significant impact on the New York City government two years ago, utilizing her personal influence and political action committee (PAC) to support left-leaning candidates. However, as the upcoming City Council elections approach, Ocasio-Cortez has been relatively inactive in the local political scene.

Previously, her PAC, Courage to Change, provided support to 60 candidates in 2021. However, it has now become silent, and Ocasio-Cortez’s advisors have cautioned against using her past endorsements in this year’s race. Surprisingly, despite early voting already underway, the Democrat Representative has refrained from making any endorsements for this year’s candidates.

In late March, a representative from the PAC informed candidates that they would reach out regarding Ocasio-Cortez’s intended endorsements. However, the New York Times, which claimed to have seen the message, noted that the representative explicitly stated that Ocasio-Cortez’s branding should not be used for any campaigns.

This shift in Ocasio-Cortez’s involvement can partly be attributed to the lower volume of competitive races in the Council primaries this year, resulting from recent redistricting. This may explain her reluctance to endorse specific candidates. On the other hand, some of her allies suggest that this could indicate a new phase in the Representative’s evolution. She may be transitioning from an insurgent figure advocating for younger voices to a leader within the Democratic party who is attuned to the electoral priorities and realities that command her attention in Washington.
