(FeaturedNews.com) – Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) offered a progressive response to President Biden’s State of the Union address, which was unusual as typically only the opposing party provides critical commentary. Even so, yet another representative spoke out that night to bash Biden’s speech.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) appeared on MSNBC after the State of the Union on March 1 to express her disappointment in the president. She said Biden didn’t take enough time to address pressing issues, including student loan debt, clean energy, and immigration. AOC suggested he alienated groups that have supported him and missed opportunities for bipartisan support.

The president did speak about immigration, but it must not have been enough for the representative. Biden talked about a road to citizenship for Dreamers, securing the border, and changing immigration policies. He didn’t go into deep detail, but his speech was only about an hour long.
The president focused on the more pressing concerns, such as the Russia-Ukraine situation, inflation, and COVID-19. He also spoke about supporting the police and took the time to review his successes. AOC did give him credit for projecting the idea of unity and ensuring it was the clear focus of his speech.
