(FeaturedNews.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., slammed the New York City Police Department over their dance team. In a statement X, formerly known as Twitter, questioned how many music programs had gotten defunded while the dance team continued to exist. In the past, AOC has repeatedly pushed for defunding the police.
The NYPD team recently performed at the local PIX 11 news station. Following their performance, many critics online slammed the department over them spending their time on dance routines rather than fighting crimes. Other critics who had spoken to Fox News Digital had claimed that the video was not only offensive to taxpayers but also to women who worked in law enforcement.
Former FBI agent Nicole Parker argued that if someone in their free time needed to be in a dance team to relax that was a fine thing to do on their own time. However, she argued that at a time when crimes in New York City are at an all-time high, the primary concern should be how to keep the community safe, which is not what they were doing.
Following Ocasio-Cortez’s post, many X users who had condemned the dance team claimed that the congresswoman had ended up missing the mark. One of the users proceeded to question the Representative on how many people in her district were facing issues because of the surge in migrants. A different user questioned whether more funding for school music programs would be available if they had gotten rid of harmful politicians like her.
