(FeaturedNews.com) – Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who had a notably difficult debate ahead of the 2022 election, urged Democrats to remain calm after concerns arose over President Biden’s performance in a recent debate against former President Trump.
“I refuse to join the Democratic vultures on Biden’s shoulder after the debate. No one knows more than me that a rough debate doesn’t define the totality of a person and their achievements,” Fetterman stated on the social platform X. His remarks came alongside a Politico headline that read, “Panicked Dems start looking for alternatives to Biden.”
Fetterman recalled his own challenges during his Senate race against celebrity Mehmet Oz in 2022, where he struggled to articulate his words coherently during their sole debate following a stroke. Despite the immediate pessimistic predictions from pundits and pollsters who thought he would lose, Fetterman reminded his followers, “Morning-after thermonuclear beat downs from my race from the debate and polling geniuses like 538 predicted I’d lose by 2. And what happened? The only seat to flip and won by a historic margin (+5).”
He succinctly concluded his message with, “Chill the f— out.”
The Washington Post described Fetterman’s debate against Oz as “a rough night,” noting how he mistakenly greeted the audience with “Good night” instead of “Good evening” and struggled with completing his thoughts and using correct words.
Despite the challenging debate, Fetterman ultimately won the Pennsylvania Senate seat with 51.2 percent of the vote compared to Oz’s 46.3 percent.
After Biden’s debate with Trump, there was speculation within the Democratic Party about potentially replacing Biden at the top of the ticket, as he exhibited a raspy voice and stumbled over his words, which his campaign attributed to a cold. Pennsylvania, along with Michigan and Wisconsin, remains a key state that Democrats are aiming to secure in Biden’s bid for reelection.
