Pelosi ANNOUNCEMENT – She’s All In!
Speaker Nancy Pelosi is confident that the Democrats will retain their House majority. Not only that, she has also mentioned that she is strongly optimistic about the odds of the party picking up more seats in the upcoming midterm elections.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn have also echoed Pelosi’s optimism.
In a statement to Punchbowl News, Pelosi said that she had visited 12 cities in 12 days and that the party and its leadership is ready. In her view, both the Jan. 6 riot, and the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court ruling which overturned Roe v. Wade have both led to the Democrat’s chances increasing.
She also noted that the Dobbs decision was not a surprise and that they believed they would win the elections even before that.
The DCCC chairman has also entered the conversation to say that the Republican Party is “way out of position on Roe v. Wade,” and that has been visible in the polls.
As of Aug. 30, the latest projections have slipped from the GOP gaining sits 20-35 to 10-20. This in part is because of the Dobbs decision and the weaker campaigning of many of the GOP primary contenders.
Pelosi also added that people have mobilized and raised money, and they are the ones that the Democrats should help if they manage to retain the majority.
Democrats have always been optimistic in the past, but that optimism has also taken hits. In 2010 for example, the party lost 63 seats. This led to Pelosi becoming the minority leader at the time.
