(FeaturedNews.com) – On Tuesday, former Vice President Mike Pence issued a statement following the announcement that Special Counsel Jack Smith had indicted former President Donald Trump in connection to his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, and his latest indictment.
Following the indictment, Pence stated that Trump had placed himself above the Constitution and that in reality Trump running in the 2024 presidential election was only serving to distract from the “disastrous” record of President Biden. He added that this indictment was a reminder that those who had placed themselves over the U.S. Constitution should not be allowed to serve as President.
Pence, in his statement, also noted that after reviewing the indictment he was going to have more comments to make about the case. As he pointed out, Trump is entitled to be perceived as innocent, but this recent indictment means that there will be more distractions and discussions about the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. These distractions would only mean that less attention is being paid to the economic policies followed by the Biden administration which have hurt millions of Americans, or that less attention would be placed on the corruption claims surrounding President Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
As Pence pointed out, the country and the Constitution were more important than any one person and their career. This was why on Jan. 6, 2021, he had chosen the Constitution when then-President Trump had forced him to choose.
He argued that he would continue to always choose the Constitution, especially if elected into the White House.
