Photo of Ivanka Trump Sparks Internet Outrage
Ivanka Trump tweeted a photo of her family watching the FIFA World Cup soccer in Qatar. The daughter of former President Trump showed her attendance at the Brazil- Serbia game on Thursday, however, what she might not have expected was that the photo would lead the internet to go crazy.
Ivanka Trump had previously announced that she would not be a part of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. However, in the photo posted, she was joined by her husband and two sons at the Lusail Stadium in eastern Qatar where they met with Qatari dignitaries.
An hour before that photo had been taken, the Trump family was seen at Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud, Doha watching the Portugal-Ghana game before going to the Brazil game. Jared Kushner, Ivanka’s husband, had served as a Middle East adviser during the Trump administration. Throughout the game, he was often seen associating with politicians and even having a conversation with Qatari Prime Minister Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
Along with the couple, multimillionaire Nasser Al-Khelaifi was pictured. Al-Khelaifi is the president and CEO of the French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain.
Online, many praised Ivanka for attending the games, while others criticized her for supporting a tournament that was taking place in a country that had been engaging in slave labor and human rights abuses in order to build those same soccer stadiums she was attending.
