(FeaturedNews.com) – A Shih Tzu puppy named Declan had been the victim of a hit-and-run when he was young. However, despite this accident and the injuries he has incurred the little puppy is now living his best life along with his new owner.
Declan, who is now three, is living in Miami, Florida along with his owner Shanna Proudfit. Proudfit had adopted Declan after seeing an Instagram post with his story. As she revealed to Newsweek at the time she was not looking for another dog, but she had seen the post made by one of her friends about the Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and Sanctuary requiring donations. After clicking on the donations link she saw Declan for the first time.
While Declan lost his eye and front leg as a result of the hit and run that has not stopped him from living life to the fullest. Both Declan and another dog had been victims of the hit and run, but a good Samaritan had found them and gotten them the help they needed.
The accident had left Declan bleeding a lot, he was also full of fleas and his fur was matted. However, the vets were able to save him and after months of rehabilitation, it was determined that his front right leg would need to be amputated.
Proudfit was touched by everything that Declan had gone through and after finding out his story she decided that he needed to return home with her.
