(FeaturedNews.com) – Both businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made speeches at an evangelical Christian forum on Friday afternoon in Iowa. GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley also took the stage to speak to voters in the first caucus state.

DeSantis, during his remarks, shared a personal story about his wife, Casey, and him experiencing miscarriage early in their marriage. As he said at the time the couple had taken a trip to Israel where they had prayed to have a child. A little time later they ended up finding out they were pregnant, but soon after they lost their first baby.

Ramaswamy started off first stating that this was a story he had not shared before about his wife Apoorva and him finding out they were expecting for the first time, while she was in New York City doing her residency. However, around three and a half months into the pregnancy, his wife ended up having a miscarriage.

This is the first time that the two candidates have shared these private stories during the campaign. During the Family Leader Thanksgiving Family Forum, organized by Bob Vander Plaats, the three candidates took the stage. Plaats asked each of the candidates what they believed their biggest challenges in having success in Iowa were.

Ramaswamy was also asked about his faith as a Hindu, while DeSantis was given an easier question about why he chose to run now while being the governor of Florida. Plaats finally asked Haley about abortion and the answer she had given on the topic during the third Republican primary debate.
