(FeaturedNews.com) – Senator Ted Cruz found common ground with Representative Ilhan Omar over the derailment of a train in East Palestine, Ohio. The Norfolk Southern train was carrying toxic chemicals including vinyl chloride, which when burned could release phosgene and hydrogen chloride, two highly toxic gasses.

The trains were first derailed on February 3, after which the Ohio town was evacuated due to the smoke from the massive fire. However, the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), has claimed that following testing there were no traces of the two deadly chemicals in the air.

Despite this, many continue to be concerned about the effects that the spill might have on the soil, and water in the area. Many East Palestine Residents have so far reported suffering from different health issues, while many animals have also been affected by the chemical exposure caused by the derailment.

The Biden administration has been heavily criticized over its so far handling of the situation. The train derailment did not lead to any injuries or deaths.

Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, has pushed the Biden administration to take action and has even called for Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to take “direct action” in order to address the crisis. Omar also tweeted that the derailment has had a “negative impact on the health and wellbeing of residents for decades.” She added that so far there has been close to “zero national media attention” placed on the incident.

Cruz, a Texas Republican, also responded to Omar’s tweet stating that he “fully agree (s)” with her call that the Biden administration needed to have a bigger response.
