(FeaturedNews.com) – House Republicans are questioning whether they should place more attention towards impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland following Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) recent suggestion of an inquiry being filed against him. Many members of the GOP were surprised by this notion, as so far different Biden officials have been facing impeachment articles and criticism.

Since the Republican Party won over the White House, they have put more of their attention towards impeaching President Biden or Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. However, throughout these efforts, McCarthy has been stating that the conference needed to make careful and deliberate steps. Still, in the possibility of impeaching Garland, he appears to be taking a more leading role.

The Department of Justice, which is led by Garland, has been blasted by the GOP repeatedly in recent months, and yet Garland himself has not faced a lot of criticism.

Late last month, McCarthy posted on Twitter about an IRS whistleblower’s testimony which pointed out that the department had attempted to block and delay the investigation into Hunter Biden. Still, the conference has not taken any quick decisions following these revelations with some supporting the idea of impeaching Garland, while others are arguing that other Cabinet secretaries needed to be investigated first.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) revealed that he does not know of any “chargeable crime” right now. He added that it is up to the President to take action and remove those who are not appropriately fulfilling their duties. Congress can only take action if the president does not remove those who were involved in a crime.
